Credit Controller (Maternity Cover)

The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Credit Controller to join our internal finance team. Alongside the other credit controllers, you will work towards targets and deadlines. Ideally you will have experience in a professional services firm or be able to appreciate the working relationships we have with our clients. The role is part time for 10-12 hours per week, between the hours of 10am – 2pm, covering 2 or 3 days per week. The role is Maternity cover for a minimum of 9 months, with the possibility of extension.

general responsibilities

  • Chasing and monitoring outstanding debts via various communication methods
  • Ensuring that details of debts are correctly recorded and kept up to date on the system
  • Escalating and reviewing debt in meetings with senior staff
  • Competently handling incoming queries/calls
  • Taking client card payments in real time
  • Working to reduce aged debt
  • Monitoring client Direct Debit payment and ensuring failed direct debits are monitored and chased
  • Overseeing & managing client payment plans and monitoring affordability
  • Handling daily cheques & cash coming into office
  • Maintaining strong working relationships whilst aiming to achieve set targets
  • Assisting fellow team members at peak times and to cover absence

skills and qualities

  • Experienced in a similar role
  • Team player keen to build working relationships – flexibility to assist others in department and business as a whole
  • Good GCSE/O-level results, or equivalent (minimum Grade C/5 in Mathematics & English Language)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word and accounting software

desirable skills

  • May have relevant professional qualifications (such as AAT)
  • Understanding of the professional services environment, experience preferred
